Thunderstorm Warnings Expire, Strong Winds Persist
(WSPA) – Early morning thunderstorm warnings for the Upstate have expired, but officials caution that strong, gusty winds will continue throughout the day.
The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory until 6 p.m. Sunday for the following counties: Rabun, Habersham, Stephens, Franklin, Hart, Elbert, Abbeville, Laurens, Union, Chester, Greenwood, Laurens, Rutherford, Polk, Cherokee, Pickens, Greenville, Anderson, Oconee, McDowell, and Spartanburg.
Residents in these areas can expect sustained winds of 15–20 mph, with gusts reaching up to 40 mph. Strong winds may cause unsecured objects to blow away, down trees, and lead to potential power outages. Drivers are urged to use caution as high winds can make road conditions hazardous.
