Bishop urges Trump to extend compassion to LGBT individuals and migrants

President Donald Trump criticized a service at the Washington National Cathedral after being called out during a sermon.

The Right Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde urged Trump to show "mercy," highlighting the fears within LGBT and immigrant communities.

Earlier that day, shortly after his swearing-in as President, Trump announced plans to make it "official policy" that there are "only two genders—male and female." He also reiterated his commitment to ending illegal immigration, stating that millions of "criminal aliens" would be deported.

After the service, Trump expressed dissatisfaction, telling reporters, "I didn’t think it was a good service. They could do much better," before leaving.
