Toronto Delta Plane Crash: What Caused the Aircraft to Flip During Landing?

Delta Flight 4819 Crash Lands in Toronto Amid Snowstorm; All 80 Aboard Survive

A Delta Airlines flight from Minneapolis-Saint Paul crash-landed at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday amid heavy snowfall and strong winds. Despite the dramatic incident, all 80 people on board survived, though 18 were injured, with three in critical condition.

The CRJ900 aircraft, manufactured by Bombardier, flipped upside down upon landing and briefly caught fire before emergency crews extinguished the flames. Social media footage showed passengers evacuating into the snow-covered tarmac.

Aviation experts suggest the extreme weather conditions, including 65 km/h (40 mph) winds and significant snowfall, may have contributed to the crash. The Transportation Safety Board has launched an investigation, and two runways remain closed as authorities examine the wreckage.

Airport officials praised first responders for their swift action, which helped ensure a relatively safe outcome despite the severity of the crash.
